**Job Description:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Python Developer with a strong background in UNIX scripting and cybersecurity to join our client's dynamic team in New York City. This is a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension based on performance and project needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coding, a keen eye for security vulnerabilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality Python applications and scripts.
- Write and maintain UNIX shell scripts to automate various tasks and processes.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to identify and mitigate potential security threats.
- Implement best practices for secure coding and ensure the security of applications and data.
- Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including DevOps, IT, and product management to deliver robust solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in Python development, UNIX scripting, and cybersecurity.

**Required Qualifications:**

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Python Developer with a strong portfolio of projects.
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and frameworks such as OWASP, Nmap, Metasploit, etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work onsite in New York City for the duration of the contract.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or OSCP.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Familiarity with additional programming languages such as JavaScript, Go, or Java.
