Groundskeeper

The Opportunity

The Episcopal Academy has an immediate opening for a full-time Groundskeeper who will be an integral part of the Facilities and Operations team and will report to the Grounds Superintendent. We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate with a positive attitude to perform routine care of plantings, turfgrass, athletic fields and other common areas and campus features. Position schedule is flexible -either Monday through Friday or Wednesday to Sunday.

Who You Are

• Possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Possess working knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in grounds maintenance.
• Possess the ability to walk, stand, or sit for prolonged periods of time and can lift or carry 70 lbs or more.
• Possess working knowledge of grounds machines and equipment.
• Possess outstanding organizational and leadership abilities and a can do attitude.

What You'll Do

Additional roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Plant and care for plantings, shrubs, lawns, athletic fields, using such tools and equipment as brooms, edgers, mowers, and sprayers, hoes, picks, shears, rakes, spades, spreaders, cultivating machines, sprinkling machines, tractors, and trucks.
• Mowing turfgrass areas
• Grade, seed, and sod turfgrass areas.
• Plant, edge, & maintain flower beds.
• Water, spray, and cultivate turfgrass, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Rake and dispose of leaves, twigs, and other debris.
• Trim hedges.
• Help with athletic field maintenance as needed.
• Operate and make minor adjustments to mowers.
• Clean and care for tools and equipment.
• Assist with snow removal by shoveling, salting, and operating snow removal vehicles and equipment (24-hour on-call during inclement weather).
• Operate and assist with routine maintenance of light and medium weight vehicles and equipment.
• Assist in maintenance of stormwater management systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
