Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe 1st Line Service Technician role ensures customer satisfaction post-sale by providing support with startup, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and more for MJC products. The role also involves guiding customers on product warranty, approving contractor repairs, and sourcing replacement parts.Job Responsibilities and Duties•Troubleshoot unit issues and assist with in-field start-up via phone.• Investigate customer concerns and respond to special requests to maintain customer satisfaction.• Document issue-related information in support software.• Provide input to New Product Development Teams on serviceability.• Process warranty claims and identify parts required for service.• Collaborate with the Parts Department/Purchasing to order replacement parts.• Travel to customer sites when necessary (15-20%, weekends when required).• Engage in extensive self-study to maintain technical proficiency.• Collaborate with various departments within the company, including Engineering, Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Leadership.Skills and Qualifications• Proficient knowledge of HVAC systems (Required).• Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with HVAC systems (Required)• Strong troubleshooting skills (Preferred).• Familiarity with complex HVAC controls and mechanical systems (Preferred).• Ability to maintain business relationships and provide support in challenging situations.• Experience in building automation systems.• Vocational school or Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Air Conditioning, or equivalent field experience.• Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.• Trane controls and Tracer TU experience.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment, in a manufacturing plant environment, and as a representative job site. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines are routinely used. Some work may expose employees to loud noises or fumes in the plant facility. Certain specialty issues may require factory support, leading to repairs conducted in the field. Field environments include mechanical/pump rooms, industrial/commercial facilities, and rooftops that require ladder access.Physical DemandsThe employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. The role may require being agile and mobile, including long periods of standing at customer job sites. Employees should be comfortable in conditions of extreme heat, cold, wind, and being off the ground on rooftops occasionally. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Work Authorization/Security ClearancesIn compliance with federal law, all hired persons will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
