Overview

This is primarily a Monday-Friday position floating between our nine Senior Life Communities. Car Stipend and Fuel Card are provided.

The Floating Sous Chef is an exciting position working with our communities' Executive Directors and Executive Chefs. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items. Otterbein SeniorLife offers nine Senior Life Communities (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Rehab) in the western half of Ohio and the Indianapolis area with full service kitchens and dining rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer service is a must
  • Travels to different communities throughout Otterbein.
  • Helps oversee the activities of the kitchen staff and monitors all food production and presentation.
  • Trains and assists staff in proper procedures and policies.
  • Recipe development.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Ordering and inventory.
  • Requires an understanding of federal, state and local food and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel throughout the week.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Understand the use and maintenance of various kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent record of kitchen and staff management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.

Education: A degree in Culinary Science or related certificate is a plus.

Licensure: ServSafe certification.

Experience: 2 to 5 year's cooking experience in LTC or similar setting preferred.
