Freight Broker

As a Freight Broker, you will orchestrate the transportation of goods by coordinating with carriers to match them with loads efficiently. Your responsibilities will include negotiating favorable freight rates, preparing necessary documentation, and monitoring shipments from start to finish. You will serve as the primary liaison between carriers and our company, ensuring timely deliveries and addressing any challenges that arise, thereby maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Negotiate and secure competitive freight rates to optimize transportation costs.
• Generate and manage all necessary shipping documentation.
• Monitor the progress of each shipment, ensuring timely updates and adjustments as needed.
• Act as the primary point of contact for carriers, maintaining strong relationships and prompt communication.
• Resolve any shipment-related issues swiftly and effectively.
• Manage freight claims thoroughly, ensuring issues are resolved in favor of seamless operations.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a BS/BA college degree is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in the transportation industry, with hands-on experience in freight brokerage.
• Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems.
• TIA Certified Transportation Broker certification is a plus.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability and willingness to travel within an assigned sales area to promote business and strengthen relationships.
