Key ResponsibilitiesOpportunity and Qualifications:
We are currently seeking a Tax Senior to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) Services Group in our Cleveland Office. Hybrid and remote arrangements will be considered. Our services include state income and franchise tax reporting, state and local tax controversy, sales and use tax planning, incentives and credits, and property tax. This position is available in any of our Northeast, Ohio offices. (Cleveland, Wooster, Akron)
The Tax Senior will have the opportunity to develop and pursue strategies while using the latest software technology. The position will provide day-to-day management of accounts through the delivery of tax consulting and compliance services. This position will focus on providing state and local indirect tax planning, consulting and compliance services to clients in various industries.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with clients on a variety of consulting and compliance engagements focusing on state and local indirect tax.
- You will become a trusted business advisor to our clients focusing on sales & use and excise tax overpayment reviews, tax implications of sales and purchase transactions, audit defense services, nexus planning, and voluntary disclosures.
- Research and analyze a wide variety of tax issues.
- Assist in proposal process for new and existing clients
- Act as mentor and/or career advisor for members of the engagement team to support their training, growth and development
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseTo be considered for this position, candidates must:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate's degree in accounting, finance or other related business field.
- CPA candidate is a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience in State and Local indirect tax (sales & use and excise tax).
- Solid understanding and experience with state tax compliance regarding sales and use tax, payroll taxes, property taxes, etc.
- Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience working within a CPA firm is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) as well as basic knowledge of operating systems.
