The Host is responsible for maintaining a warm and professional environment in accordance with NW Hospitality Group's standards, managing reservations, waitlists and phone lines in a courteous and helpful manner and ensuring that each guest who walks through the front door feels appreciated and honored.

Duties & Responsibilites


  • Maintain utmost grooming and wardrobe presentation, as the first impression establishing the standard for the Front of House.
  • Maintain a clean and ambient restaurant, with specific attention to lighting, music, curtains/shades, flowers and candles - are all present and
  • correct.
  • Walk through dining room prior to service, ensuring the mise en place is completed.
  • Warmly and confidently greet guests as they enter. Keep in mind to PAUSE, give full attention.
  • Whenever possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
  • Answer phones using proper phone etiquette and maintain a calm and positive demeanor with guests at all times.
  • Be able to answer questions about the restaurant, provide directions, explain what an amaro is, etc. Always find the answer for the guest.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of menu, including daily specials such as risottos, draft cocktails, etc.
  • Take To-go orders and complete them from start to finish from ringing them in the POS system, collecting payment with 100% accuracy,
  • packing and labeling the food, providing utensils, napkins and anything else the guest may need to enjoy their takeout,
  • Manage Online Orders, carefully checking each order before accepting, with mindfulness given to volume of orders at a time.
  • Remember and learn the names of return guests, track guest information in the reservation software.
  • Assess flow of service and time tables accordingly.
  • When immediate seating is limited, begin and manage waitlist, accurately quote approximate wait times.
  • Upon seating, offer guests a menu and water, and inform them of their server's name.
  • Relay messages to servers and bus persons as needed. Serve as the communication hub of the restaurant. Be in constant contact with the
  • Manager on Duty.
  • Ensure that all tables are receiving prompt and accurate service, alerting Manager on Duty when attention is needed.
  • Occasionally assist servers with orders, delivery of food and clearing tables.
  • Thank guests with genuine appreciation as they leave, inviting them to return.
  • As guests are leaving, gauge level of satisfaction, listening to any comments, feedback, compliments and complaints and relay them to the
  • Manager.
  • Attend, stock, and straighten restroom facilities throughout shift.
  • Complete any other tasks or directives issued by your Manager in a polite, timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements


  • No previous restaurant experience required.
  • Must have exceptional grooming habits.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in the predominant language(s) of our guests.
