Purpose of the Position: We are looking for a dedicated Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our Early Head Start program. This role focuses on providing high-quality care and education for young children aged 8 weeks to 3 years, nurturing their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that supports early learning and fosters strong family-community ties, aligned with Early Head Start standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Educational Programming:

  • Plan and implement daily learning activities that promote the developmental growth of each child.
  • Conduct assessments using designated tools and share developmental progress with parents regularly.

 

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting classroom environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Manage daily classroom routines, ensuring activities are developmentally appropriate and engaging.

 

Family Engagement:

  • Strengthen parent-child relationships through regular communication, including parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
  • Encourage family involvement in the educational process and community activities.

 

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

 

Developmental Support:

  • Utilize developmentally appropriate practices to promote children's growth in key developmental areas.
  • Provide personalized attention and care to meet the needs of individual children.

 

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Complete all required paperwork and maintain accurate records for child assessments and classroom activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to childcare and education.

 

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required. An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience as an infant/toddler teacher. Familiarity with Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos is advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to implement effective teaching strategies and manage classroom dynamics.
  • Certifications: Valid Adult/Pediatric CPR/FA/AED Training.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal communication abilities, with a capacity to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, kneel, bend, and sit on the floor frequently to engage with children.

 

Essential Mental Functions:

  • Crisis Management: Ability to address and manage family crises effectively, providing guidance in line with program policies.
  • Decision-Making: Strong ability to prioritize tasks and maintain professional boundaries.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility: Active role requiring movement within the classroom and quick responses to children’s needs.

 

Equipment and Software Used:

  • Equipment: Computer, tablet, walkie-talkie.
  • Databases: ProCare, GoEngage, Teaching Strategies, ASQ Online, HELP, HSELOF.
