Job Summary:

As the Accounting Controller, you will be responsible for managing the overall financial operations of our construction projects and corporate finance. You will play a key role in financial decision-making, providing strategic financial input to senior management while overseeing the accounting processes, tax compliance, and financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage the preparation of all financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, financial forecasting, and cash flow for construction projects.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and assess any changes necessary.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the operational efficiency of the financial department.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and other stakeholders.
  • Implement and oversee financial management systems, databases, and computer software.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and financial management experience in the construction industry or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting specific to construction accounting.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with superb interpersonal and communication skills.
