The Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences at Manhattan College is seeking a Visiting Professor
of Biology for the academic year 2024-25, starting on August 26, 2024. Applications are invited from the
following areas of biology: cell biology, microbiology, or plant biology. Teaching responsibilities would
include general biology lectures and laboratories, and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The
visiting professor will be required to conduct research and supervise undergraduate students. The
position is supported by The Catherine and Robert Fenton Endowed Chair in Biology. The appointment is
for one year.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct research with undergraduates and maintain an active research program.
• Teach two undergraduate lecture and lab biology courses for majors and non-majors per semester as
needed by the department.
• Prepare up-to-date engaging learning sessions to enhance the student experience.
• Mentoring student research for the Kakos School of Arts and Science summer research program.
Reports to: Department Chair.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in a biological science at the rank of Professor.
• College level teaching experience.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong scholarly record.
• Strong record of student research training, especially undergraduates.
• Strong teaching and communication skills.
• Dedication to student success and academic excellence.
Salary: $120,000 per year
