Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate and efficient movement of production materials and parts within the warehouse and production locations. This includes receiving and putting away inbound deliveries, picking and issuing parts for production jobs, and maintaining inventory accuracy through timely transactions in company systems. The role also ensures a safe, clean, and efficient work environment and compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various material handling equipment, including sit-down or stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, cranes, and pallet stackers/walkie riders.
  • Unload and load delivery trucks, trailers, and outside carriers.
  • Ensure proper movement of materials throughout fabrication work cells.
  • Operate packaging and wrapping equipment, inspecting all materials as they are picked and delivered, and stage completed products.
  • Maintain equipment and perform necessary housekeeping duties.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, safety rules, and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform basic data entry to support supply chain management.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing setting.
    • Experience operating a stand-up forklift.
    • Basic shop math and computer skills.
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
    • Must be located within a 50-mile radius of Worcester, MA.

  • Preferred:

    • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.
    • 1+ years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, material handling, shipping dock, or related fields.
    • Experience using material management and MRP/ERP systems (such as AS400).
    • Familiarity with KANBAN and cycle counting processes.
    • Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures, work orders, and bills of material.
    • Problem-solving skills and good judgment to make informed decisions.
    • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to use a crane after training.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods, with repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting.
    • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and protective arm and hand coverings.

Work Environment:

  • This role is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment.
