Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Lead to join our team in Batavia, IL. In this medium to senior-level role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cybersecurity and coordinating with the infrastructure and applications teams within our IT department. You will conduct assessments of the existing architecture to identify areas for improvement, develop and implement new IT policies to enhance security, and manage cybersecurity defense across multiple disciplines. You will lead the analysis, implementation, and ongoing improvement of proactive security controls to prevent external threats from infiltrating company information or systems. Utilizing your deep knowledge of IT platforms, tools, and concepts, you will ensure comprehensive cybersecurity protection. Additionally, you will lead alert responses and problem-solving workgroups, focusing on the enterprise risk framework. While you will not have direct reports, you will manage security service vendors and regularly meet with them. This position requires full on-site presence, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and some travel as the company has 22 locations in the Midwest and Eastern coast of the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all cybersecurity software and tools
  • Coordinate with infrastructure and applications teams
  • Manage and liaise with security service vendors
  • Conduct security awareness training and create custom training campaigns
  • Handle cyber insurance matters
  • Stay up to date on relevant vulnerabilities and news
  • Coordinate tabletop exercises
  • Manage risk and coordinate patch management with the Senior Systems Engineer
  • Maintain and report on all aspects of security for budgetary, effectiveness, and planning purposes
  • Lead vulnerability management and incident response activities for zero-day or high-severity vulnerability events
  • Engage with all levels of professionals and managers company-wide, serving as an experienced advisor to leadership
  • Consult with leadership and security peers and experts on complex security issues and findings
  • Communicate effectively, frequently switching between technical and non-technical partners
  • Assign work in close coordination with the Senior Infrastructure Manager and Director of IT Applications to appropriate staff
  • Design and implement IAM policies, procedures, and standards, with a focus on automation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in current cybersecurity tools, concepts, and best practices
  • Experience leading and coordinating responses to security incidents related to software systems, including forensic analysis, containment, and recovery efforts
  • Knowledge of industry standard scoring models such as CVSS and CCSS
  • Knowledge of vulnerability attack methods, exploit results, and attack chains
  • Ability to proactively anticipate problems and execute solutions at a strategic level
  • Ability to triage and isolate key facts to make informed recommendations to leadership on vulnerability management matters, often based on incomplete information
