Owensboro Racing & Gaming operates electronic gaming machines (Ainsworth, Konami, IGT, Aristocrat and Sci Games) that offer a guest experience similar to traditional slot machines however the results of each spin are determined by historical horse racing technology (HHR). The ideal candidate for Director of Gaming Operations would have experience operating a slot floor or similar network-based gaming operation with a capacity of 600 or greater machines in a facility offering a similar entertainment experience (dining, sportsbook, live music etc). This is an exciting opportunity for a slot/gaming leader to work in a new and rapidly growing segment of the gaming industry in one of the premier HHR facilities in the country.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the hiring, training, performance management and corrective action processes for the Gaming Operations Department.
  • Reviews and manages the department’s financial results.
  • Approves large jackpots above levels authorized for subordinates as set out in the SOP.
  • Reviews staffing levels to maintain an appropriate level of employment.
  • Property point of contact on all communications, projects and initiatives that involve HHR regulators and HRM hardware and software manufacturers.
  • Delegates duties and assigns responsibilities.
  • Development of team members, interviews, hiring, and evaluations.
  • Directs and manages gaming equipment conversions, placement, and repair.
  • Reviews gaming activities and promotional statuses with the Sr. Director of Gaming Ops.
  • Monitors and adjusts performance for both the gaming floor in comparison with local competition and optimal gaming mix and pricing strategy.
  • Meets with departmental directors and managers as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with all gaming regulations, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the property’s BSA Policy.
  • Monitors for suspicious activity as defined by the BSA and the property’s BSA Policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  • Maintains the highest standards of leadership, training and overall management while overseeing all aspects of the Gaming Operations and Gaming Performance departments.
  • Maintaining a professional working relationship among all personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Leads by example relative to exemplary customer service both internal and external.
  • Willingness to assume overall responsibility relative to the performance of gaming machines.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Seven to ten years of experience with operations and management in a multi-device 24-hour gaming operation.
  • Four-year degree in related fields or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Significant experience and expertise collecting, organizing, evaluating and presenting Gaming Performance Data.
  • Prior experience with Slot Machines or Historical Horse Racing System or similar experience with network system a plus.
  • Experience using Aristocrat Oasis Accounting System a plus.
  • Valid Racing License.
