METROPOLITAN KNOXVILLE AIRPORT AUTHORITY

The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) was established in 1978 as a nonprofit agency to own and operate the city's aviation system, McGhee Tyson Airport and Downtown Island Airport, and has recently celebrated a full 86-years in service to the East Tennessee area.  Being centrally located within a one day's drive or a few hours flight from major cities, MKAA continues to be integral to the air transportation system. The Position:

The purpose of our Facility Maintenance Crew Leader position is is to oversee and participate in the general skilled trades work of facility maintenance crews. Reviews and assigns work orders to crew members. Stays abreast of ongoing jobs and ensures tasks are completed correctly and on time. Prioritizes jobs according to importance. Tours the terminal and concourse for maintenance needs. Ensures staff have appropriate supplies.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Receives, prioritizes, and assigns work orders to maintenance crews. Ensures workers have needed equipment and supplies.
  • Responds to calls from dispatch or work controller regarding issues that arise throughout the day.
  • Participates in on-call status/shifts.
  • Performs visual inspections throughout the terminal, concourse, stairwells, and bathrooms.
  • Provides maintenance assistance on jobs that require more than one person.
  • Schedules jobs with contactors and vendors and follows up on open purchase orders to ensure inventory arrives on time.
  • Performs basic repairs requiring plumbing, carpentry, and electrical skills.
  • Performs administrative duties, including answering questions about open work orders, opening purchase orders, taking calls from vendors, organizing invoices, and working with procurement to purchase items.
  • Performs related work as required.


The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this position should have general knowledge of modern office practices and equipment, including applicable software; Work order system; Maintenance, repair, and/or construction of airport facilities; Safety procedures; Procurement practices and procedures. This candidate must be able to speak and write clearly, be well-organized and manage time wisely, be able to make repairs to facilities, maintain accurate inspection records, and inventory of supplies, and can use a variety of hand/power tools. Versed in leadership, he or she should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships, pay attention to detail, provide customer service to the traveling public or guests of the airport, and be effective in solving problems.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  2-4 years of advanced study in industrial maintenance; 3 to 5 years of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and/or carpentry work, including the operation of tools and equipment; 2 to 3 years of experience in a lead or senior maintenance role.  Must have at least one certification in a facilities/operations related discipline including,  but not limited to, Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE), HVAC, Boiler Operator, and/or Licensed Contractor.

 

Salary and Compensation:

The hiring range for this position is $56,867.48 to $73,927.72 (DOE)  MKAA offers a very competitive benefits package for this position, including medical/dental/vision benefits, disability/life insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, 401(a)-retirement program.
