Summary

This position provides experienced support ensuring site environmental, health and safety programs are fully implemented, and policies complied with. It also plans, schedules and is responsible for compliance with applicable state, local and federal environmental and safety laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assures the facility is in compliance with safety rules and regulations consistent with federal, state and local regulations and corporate policies for the purpose of providing a safe workplace.

Assures compliance with federal, state and local environmental rules and regulations as well as corporate policies.

Assists with the updating and development of environmental/safety policies, manuals and procedures for the facility.

Recommends changes in the manufacturing processes that will result in a safer process. Conducts equipment pre-startup inspections.

Conducts safety committee meetings.

Investigates safety complaints, serious accidents, repetitive injuries, unsafe conditions and practices and environmental incidents found in the plants and offices. Will assist with workers compensation claims reporting.

Coordinates the documentation and review of job risk assessments and environmental aspects and impacts.

Follows up on inspections of the sites by federal, state and local inspectors.

Plays an active role in the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001certification, programs, and maintenance process.

Assistswith the internal and external environmental, health, and safety audit programs and associated completion of corrective actions.

Provides required environmental and safety training for employees.

Assures proper waste management, recycling, disposal, inspections, and assists with recordkeeping as required.

Assists with updating emergency response plans.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program with 5+ years of current experience in an EHS role.

Certifications

CHMM and CSP certifications preferable.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of EHS Database software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

Global System Competencies This position requires cross-functional relationships with all divisions, Corporate Departments, Site Managers, HR, Facilities and Maintenance personnel.
