We also educate and advocate for public involvement in our mission.
Description:
Are you an expert at identifying compelling stories and conveying the message of an incredible mission through social media? This role is for you The Social Media Manager executes the day-to-day channel management, content, and interaction for assigned social channels. The position works closely with the Communications, Content Director, Brand, and Creative team in distributing, optimizing, boosting, and creating new content, and reporting on performance. Essential to the role is monitoring of social media trends, tracking other organizations' successes, and adapting assigned channels. This role also will be required to interact with followers, donors, and corporate partner content to cultivate passionate supporters. A successful social media manager also should understand algorithms, ad placement/promotion, and best practices to optimize successful community engagement. This position also works closely with the Director of Marketing to create and develop social media tactics for new and existing social channels. This position will be looked to as being the complete expert in their channels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a cohesive social media strategy across various channels to achieve high levels of user engagement.
- Contribute to the organizational editorial calendars, plan content in advance, create, and post to organization social channels.
- Coordinate with social media influencers, bloggers, and news outlets to promote brand awareness and create social buzz around OUR Rescue and the space in general.
- Stay up to date on social media trends, new features, algorithm changes, etc.
- Respond to direct messages and comments as appropriate.
- Provide shared content for donors and partners to use on their channels.
- Create engaging evergreen content and daily filler content for assigned social channels.
- Boost high-performing content when appropriate.
- Continually reuse high-performing content or tweak low-performing content to increase performance.
- Maintain a library of content from which to draw.
- Attend special events to capture relevant content for your own channels.
- Educate on what makes good content and the best time to post on your social channels.
- Create reports for the team and management on channel growth and community insights.
- Create relationships with social channel account reps to stay current and gain channel insights.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience creating content and running social media channels.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
- Thorough understanding of the various social media channels and their differences.
- Knowledge of social media publishing platforms (i.e., Sprout Social).
- Ability to analyze data, test and implement best results.
- Enthusiastic, goal-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Creative and enjoy creating compelling content using tools like Adobe and Canva.
- Ability to keep vendors accountable for the services they provide.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; team-oriented, flexible, positive, and personable attitude, with a willingness to learn and continually strive for excellence; ability to work collaboratively with vendors and across departments.
