The Inventory Specialist will be the technical expert to provide customer assistance to identify stocks, location, source, type and quantities of specific items, local availability, accountability and inventories, resolve supplier issues and document customer complaints. The inventory specialist is responsible for planning and determining storage locations, packaging and shipping requirements and the distribution and positioning of supplies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for planning and determining the distribution and positioning of supplies; tracking of quantity, source and type of supplies; and conducting daily count of supplies. The Inventory Specialist will perform technical warehouse shipping and physical receiving, and some clerical duties in combination with ongoing supply activities. The work also involves analytical work in managing, regulating, coordinating or otherwise exercising control over supplies, equipment, or other warehoused material.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Candidate must demonstrate capability to perform supply management and warehouse operations
  • Drive and operate pick-up trucks, Material Handling and Warehouse Equipment
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems, and sources of supply applicable to the VA SDC operations to include U.S. Carriers mail/parcel methods and procedures
  • Manage shipping and receiving functions to include packaging and shipment of mail, parcels and supply items through USPS, UPS and FEDEX
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Ability to fill out forms and address labels to include accountability reports of transactions
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.
  • Other duties as assigned, to include keeping work areas clean and organized.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  1. Must undergo an employee background check
  2. Must have as a minimum a high school diploma
  3. Must have a minimum of (2) years of supply inventory management experience.
  4. Must be knowledgeable of supply operations to include shipping and receiving functions.
  5. Licensed to drive/operate Government owned sedans and pickup trucks
