South Bend Orthopedics is looking for a Physical Therapy Technician. The candidate will assist the Physical Therapist with patient care, perform administrative duties and clean/maintain the therapy area. No prior experience necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Performs job responsibilities in a manner which coincides with the goals and objectives of South Bend Orthopaedics.

2. Assists the therapists with the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

3. Discusses daily treatment of patients with the therapists prior to working with patients.

4. Informs the therapist of a patient’s response to treatment. This includes information concerning need for progression as well as adverse reactions to treatment.

5. Assists with transfer of patients as requested by staff within the occupational and physical therapy departments.

6. Answer telephone calls to the department. Takes messages, provides information and transfers calls as needed.

7. Prepares and maintains the work area in a neat and orderly fashion. This includes completion of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning responsibilities.

8. Receive and stores linen. Maintains an adequate supply of linen necessary for daily functioning of the clinic.

9. Maintains adequate medial supplies. Performs weekly inventory of medical supplies and orders supplies as needed.

10. Maintains a professional demeanor toward patients, visitors, facility personnel and fellow employees when performing duties.

11. Develops and maintains communications skills essential to interact with fellow employees and customers in a courteous and professional manner.

12. Demonstrates knowledge of all safety, universal precautions, fire evacuation, emergency care, and disaster policies and procedures.

13. Assists in the orientation and supervision of therapy volunteers and student technicians.

14. Completes assigned clerical duties such as filing patient charts and prepping charts for the next day.

15. Able to monitor the safety of patients including rudimentary surgical precautions under the supervision of a PT/PTA.
