POSITION SUMMARY:

Functions as a member of operations under the Intake Supervisor. Responsible for promptly greeting visitors, patients, and families upon arrival; coordinates the intake of the insurance/financial information and the discharge of the patient from the clinic.  Responsible for collecting and posting payments.

 

COMPENSATION: $18.48 - $19.30 hr./ DOE

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time

HOURS: Monday-Friday (4/10s typically 1 day in Chinook and 3 days in Harlem)

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education/Certificates/Licenses: 

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • BLS Certification upon hire
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Preferred:

  • Graduate of a certified medical administrative assistant program

 

Experience:

Required

  • Competent computer skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

 

Preferred:

  • Two (2) years of community health and/or physician’s office
  • Experience with electronic medical records


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedules patient appointments with appropriate providers.
  2. Assures the readiness of the reception area for each working day. Opens the building at the designated time and has all front desk activities fully operational at the start of business hours.
  3. Greets visitors and patients in a timely manner with a pleasant and gracious attitude.
  4. Enters the necessary demographic information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) accurately and updates/confirms all information at each visit.
  5. Obtains a copy of the patient’s insurance cards and acquires patient’s signature on all needed paperwork (HIPAA release, authorization to bill, release of records, etc.).
  6. Accountable for the FQHC financial intake process and the presentation of the sliding scale process to the patient.
  7. Requests and accurately processes payment for visit, offers receipt to patient, and logs payment.
  8. Participates in the day-to-day clinic scheduling and patient flow
  9. Answers multi-line telephones in a courteous and professional manner, takes messages as needed, and routes call or messages to the appropriate staff member.
  10. Schedules patients’ appointments using the EHR and ensures the appointment reminder system is selected appropriately in the patients account.
  11. Posts daily receipts reconciling patient visits and payments for the day.
  12. Assists resource coordinators with collection of documents and information for Health Share Partnership (HSP) process as outlined in the HSP policy and procedure.
  13. Assists with local public relations, communications, and social media activities as assigned.
  14. Ensures the waiting room and reception areas are well maintained, neat and clean.
  15. Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
  16. Secure the building at the close of each working day according to One Health’s protocols and lock all entrances.
  17. Participates in the development of procedures, protocols, standards, and regulations appropriate for patient care, as well as quality assurance activities.
