POSITION OVERVIEW
- Receipt, inspection, cleaning, servicing, reassembling and testing of various SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) and other respiratory equipment and breathing air
equipment in accordance with approved testing and service procedures. - Routine inspection and maintenance of breathing air regulators and reducers
- Completes all documentation and data entry associated with inspection and repair in a timely and accurate manner and obtains signature from customer so that proper invoicing and documentation can be provided to customer as required. This includes all inspection and repair documents, job cost billable expenses and time sheets.
- Learns to conduct detailed visual inspections and system functional tests of various systems and equipment for the purpose of reporting any deficiencies and corrective
action recommendations to customer. Learns to assess the repair needed and to quote the customer price and delivery for repair or replacement. - Assists others in facility as needed. Maintains work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition. Performs additional duties after training
- Maintain all Breathing Air Cylinders:
- Refill cylinders, 5 min, 30 min, 300cu/in 2400 psi, 400cu/in 4500 psi.
- Check hydrostatic dates and red tag, store and report. Sends out as needed for repair.
- Clean equipment and store appropriately.
- Keep an inventory of all overnight equipment.
- Maintain Breathing Air/Respiratory Equipment:
- Flow test all SCBAs, and SARs annually or as needed.
- Disinfect and clean all SARs and SCBAs that are used according to WI’s.
- Clean masks, inspect, and test mask.
- Repair damaged or failed equipment.
MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY POSITION WITH OCCASSIONAL WEEKENDS
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent or 2 or more years field level experience in the petrochemical or oil refinery related industry.
· Above average mechanical aptitude.
· Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance.
· Must possess good driving record and be insurable for Safety Solutions vehicle insurance while driving company truck.
· Undergo training for and participate in inspection, repair and installation of breathing air systems.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Ability to correctly wear all forms of breathing apparatuses, including facial masks requiring air tight seals.
TRAINING REQUIRED
· Able to provide “Field Level Maintenance” on Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), supplied air respirators, escape pack respirators, and other respiratory equipment.
· Operate compressed breathing air systems, high-pressure air manifolds, regulators and airlines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to humid and outside weather
conditions. The job activities will require the employee to work in a shop/warehouse environment and/or at customer job site locations. On an as needed basis, the employee may be assigned to support field services on a drilling rig. The employee will be required to be able to drive all categories of trucks up to and including trucks requiring a Class C Commercial Driving License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift/carry 140 lbs. frequently floor to knuckle and floor to shoulder. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel to perform maintenance on the equipment.
Flexibility in work schedule is also required for possible overtime, work on holidays, weekends and extended hours with minimal notice and as required by operational need.
