JVS SoCal currently serves 40,000 to 50,000 clients annually at over 20 locations throughout Southern California. Join us in helping change lives together


In partnership with the City of West Hollywood, the WeHoWorks Career Resource Center collaborates with job seekers who live or work in West Hollywood, providing free job search skills training and job placement assistance. WeHoWorks also collaborates with employers, and hosts employer recruitments. WeHoWorks is located in the Wells Fargo Career Development Center in the West Hollywood Public Library.


JVS WeHoWorks offers job seekers the choice of programs, intensive career and job search services, workshops and/or self-service options that include access to computers, phones and current job listings-all at no cost to eligible applicants.


DESCRIPTION

The Career Coach provides support and career guidance services to help participants reach their employment goals and may assist in determining eligibility and enrollments (intake) inputting data into our internal and State databases systems. This individual will be responsible for developing Individual Employment Plans for each enrolled client and addressing barriers to employment and assessing co-enrollment possibilities with other programs, trainings, and services.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcomes customers to the West Hollywood Career Center located in the West Hollywood Library.
  • Identifies clients’ employment goals, develops their job readiness, and guides them in finding suitable and sustainable employment.
  • Meets and exceeds performance and outcome goals as set by the City of West Hollywood and JVS SoCal Management. The tasks will include co-developing Individual Employment Plans, assessing clients’ skills and goals, and identifying potential job opportunities.
  • Find jobs and matches clients to current opportunities.
  • Responsible for setting up recruitments and events designed to get West Hollywood participants employment.
  • Maintains timely documentation and reports according to WeHo City program guidelines. Responsible for timely submission and accuracy of data, case notes and activity reports.
  • Knowledgeable about the range of services in the community and develops and maintains relationships with partners to deliver a comprehensive array of services to customers.
  • Makes group presentations and may deliver workshops in the areas of resume preparation, cover letters, interviewing techniques, and job searching strategies.
  • Completes other tasks as required to fulfill the requirements of contracts. Attend training and/or meetings when scheduled.
Requirements:
  • Preferred BA or BS degree in Writing, Communications, or another related field.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with stakeholders in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
  • Prior experience with dislocated worker and high-risk populations is valuable
  • Skill in facilitating groups, writing resumes and working with diverse populations is essential
  • Have fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Case management experience is helpful
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to write clear, concise, professional case notes
  • Must be able to read and write effectively to follow and understand procedures and communicate necessary information (excellent organizational skills)
  • Must be flexible, reliable, dependable, and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to use good judgment, interview techniques and interpersonal skills
  • Part time position, 20-25 hours a week coaching and guiding West Hollywood Community Members
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and/or the CalJOBSSM system a huge plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.
