Job Summary 

The Feed Ingredient Merchandiser enhances NutriQuest customer profitability by the purchasing and sales of feed ingredients to include macro and micro ingredients, VTM blends and customized products. Analyzes changes of markets and products to reduce cost and/or improve quality for customer and internal operations. Leads the procurement and sales functions of feed ingredients and manages relationships with suppliers and customers.

Essential Functions.

  • Develop and lead relationships with supply companies and toll manufacturers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and customers to establish best cost supply chains.
  • Provide market and supplier intelligence from supply base on costs and projected market conditions to ensure best production costs for customers.
  • Actively seek alternate supply chain channels and products.
  • Work directly with producers to facilitate procurement programs and strategies.
  • Promote NutriQuest Procurement Solutions, maintaining current client relationships and assisting in Risk Management initiatives where applicable.
  • Prospect for new client relationships focused on ingredient procurement functions, and costs.
  • Collaborate with nutritional consulting groups on identifying ingredient procurement needs.
  • Work directly with NutriQuest Customer service team to meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, Ag Science, Ag Business or related degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in feed ingredient procurement, with an understanding of ingredient values in the production supply chain.
  • Understanding of relative feeding value of alternative feeding ingredients.
  • Strong understanding of major commodities and mid-protein markets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, intermediate level in Excel and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.

Travel Requirements

  • Overnight travel of 10 - 25%
