PARKS & RECREATION - Seasonal Lifeguard

DESCRIPTION
As a lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and
well-being of all patrons at the City of Lufkin Jones Pool.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPR/AED, First Aid certification, and lifeguard certification training
    preferred. (The City of Lufkin pays for certification fees)
  • Strong swimming skills and endurance.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of water safety principles, including rescue techniques,
    CPR, and first aid.
  • Knowledge and adherence to pool rules and regulations.
  • Ability to perform water rescues efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
  • Ability to test water for proper chlorine/pH levels.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Monitor and supervise swimming activities to ensure a safe and
    secure environment for all pool guests.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to promote a positive and
    enjoyable experience for patrons.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, accidents, and incidents;
    provide first aid and CPR as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of pool facilities to identify and
    address potential hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Interact with patrons in a friendly and professional manner,
    addressing inquiries and providing information as needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow lifeguards and pool staff to ensure
    effective communication and teamwork.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and any actions
    taken during shifts.
  • Must be available to work during open swim hours, starting May
    20th until Aug 2nd
  • Pool hours Monday - Friday 11am - 5pm
  • Other duties as assigned.

PAY
$11.00 per hour
