ABX Innovative Packaging Solutions is a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging providing critical applications in healthcare, personal care, and food products. Our growing company is seeking a 2nd shift Extrusion / Lamination Operator at our Schaumburg, IL location. Standard schedule is Monday-Thursday 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, $20-$30 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to correctly setup and operate all extrusion lines in the department
  • Must be able to check and maintain product quality, width, gauge, treat, clarity, and roll appearance for all machines running
  • Check operating conditions of all machines to ensure quality, production, and safe operation of equipment
  • Assist with, or make, screen and die changes
  • Meet all product quality, safety and production standards
  • Ensure all extruders are running at maximum output
  • Ensure equipment is being operated safely
  • Train and provide leadership to extrusion assistants
  • Understand and complete shift reports, production forms, process conditions, pounds of production and waste, etc.
  • Follow AIB guidelines
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor immediately
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety instructions
  • Participate in ongoing CI and Focus improvement processes
  • Must be able to understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required by supervision

Background / Experience

  • Possess a working knowledge of extrusion lines or any other equipment related to the department
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide when working with set production figures
  • Must be able to weigh in pounds and ounces, measure in feet and inches and measure film gauge in thousandths of an inch
  • Minimum of 2-years working on extrusion or lamination line
  • Working knowledge of different polyethylene resins and different grades and how they behave under different extrusion condition
  • This position has operations that require muscular coordination, proper lifting techniques and required lifting up to 30 pounds, hoist is available for use.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and bend
  • Must be able to use and accurately read a measuring tape
  • The noise level in the working environment is usually loud (80-90 decibels)
  • The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes and or airborne particles
  • Hazards include but not limited to: mobile equipment, powered hand trucks, winders and edge guides, haul-off and winder nip rollers, molten resin and hot dies, high voltage equipment (treaters), and slitting blades and cut-off knives


Standard schedule is Monday-Thursday 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
