Job Summary: The Kennel Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the kennel during their assigned shift. This role involves supervising kennel staff, ensuring the well-being of animals, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service to pet owners.

In October, we are excited to open a brand-new boarding facility and are looking for a dedicated Kennel Attendant to help support and manage this new venture. This role involves ensuring the well-being of both pets and clients, overseeing staff training, and ensuring compliance with our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Department of Agriculture regulations. As the key holder for the building, the Kennel Attendant will also be responsible for administering medications to the animals, providing excellent care for the pets, and maintain a high quality of standards.
Additionally, the Lead Kennel Attendant will run and maintain our dog spa as well, creating fun and engaging themes for our clients to enhance their experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership
- Lead, train and supervise the kennel staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Address and resolve any staff issues or conflicts promptly.
- Handle staff scheduling, shift changes, and time-off requests
- Other supervision duties as deemed necessary
- Oversee the daily care of animals, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications as needed.
- Monitor the health and behavior of the animals and report any concerns to the registered veterinary technicians or doctors.
- Ensure all animals have clean and comfortable living areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, food preparation area, bath area and the yard area.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are in good working order and properly stocked.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.
- Customer Service:
- Greet pet owners, answer questions or concerns with professional and empathy.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Make sure the accuracy of all animal care, medications and interactions
- Document any changes, updates or messages for other kennel team members not scheduled during that shift.
- Emergency Response:
- Act as the primary point of contact in case of emergencies during the shift
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in animal care or management is a plus.
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to hand animals safely and compassionately
- Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- 3 years customer service skills
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or achieving a high school diploma within two years of hire (minimum age 16)
COMPETENCIES:Compassion and Empathy Passionate towards animal care Ability to comprehend oral and written directions Collaboration and teamwork.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:No travel is expected for this position.
