ASSOCIATE EDITOR/SEMA

PURPOSE:

Contributes to the content and production of SEMA editorial across all platforms. Works within editorial department and closely with art department and sales team to efficiently produce industry-leading content.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

  1. Resource and assemble relevant, high-quality content for SEMA Magazine.

  1. Compile and write regular editorial features and departments that may include interactive sidebars, captions and pull quotes as assigned by Editor.

  1. Spearhead outreach efforts and engage with sources for story ideas and content.

  1. Assist in additional/late contact duties, which includes reaching out to industry sources, conducting interviews and generating write-ups.

  1. Assist with copywriting, copyediting, proofreading and photography whenever required.

  1. Contact and work with sources for photography for feature articles.

  1. Research and identify product and industry trends for feature article content.

  1. When directed by management, perform other assignments and duties as required.

  1. Actively contribute to editorial strategy and ideation meetings.

  1. Attend key company and industry events.

RELATIONSHIPS

  1. Reports to Editorial Director.

  1. Interfaces with all levels of staff.

3. Interfaces with outside vendors, advertisers, exhibitors, attendees and readers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  1. Minimum of bachelor’s degree from accredited institution, or equivalent work experience.

  1. Must have excellent knowledge of the English language.

  1. Must be detail oriented and highly organized.

  1. Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.

  1. Must be able to write lively, interesting copy.

  1. Must work well under pressure.

  1. Must be able to work with different personality types.

7. While extensive knowledge of the automotive aftermarket industry and automobiles in general is not required when starting in this position, it is preferred.
