Position Summary:

The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring the financial aspects of projects while they are being completed.  This includes investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.  The Project Accountant may also be involved in best practices activities to streamline the flow of project-related information. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects
  • Assists project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting department
  • New job setup within accounting software
  • Inputs project budgets & material costs
  • Approves and documents subcontractor pay requests, material invoices within assigned timeline
  • Obtains & monitors all subcontractor payments, lien waivers and verifies for accuracy
  • Processes monthly client billings
  • Reconciles A/R for accuracy and assists in payment collection from client
  • Review and maintain accurate WIP report
  • Report on project profitability to management
  • Investigate project variances and find opportunities for cost savings
  • Assists in financial aspects of project close out
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in construction accounting
  • Proficient with computer programs including but not limited to Construction accounting software programs, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce
  • Proficient in AIA format billing
  • Capable of working with a variety of people in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work both independently and collaboratively, learn to adapt quickly while maintaining strong attention to detail
