Responsibilities

In addition to performing regular duties as an Ultrasound technologist within the imaging practice, this position provides guidance and training to new and existing Ultrasound technologists in an effort to maintain high quality Ultrasound imaging standards. A primary focus of this position will be to ensure the improvement in scanning abilities of new hires as well as existing staff. This position will work closely with the Ultrasound Imaging Specialist in the development of new technology and protocols as well as the promotion of exceptional patient care.

This position will require travelling to various Advanced Radiology imaging centers. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm (based on operational needs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides the Imaging Center Manager (ICM) and US Imaging Specialist with feedback regarding hiring qualified technologists.
  • Performs all ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals, complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
  • Sets clear and specific expectations/objectives for team members and the department.
  • Monitors and documents performance during performance periods and provides documentation to the ICM and US Imaging Specialist.
  • Develops and oversees training of new hires and existing technologists as appropriate.
  • Monitors technical skills and performance of all US technologists; recommends additional training when appropriate.
  • Provides the ICM and US Imaging Specialist input on technologist performance.
  • Recognizes and provides coaching, counseling, and guidance as appropriate.
  • Provides team members with support and motivation.
  • Exhibits objectivity and openness to other’s views; demonstrates ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Promotes flexibility in staff training across teams and departments.
  • Delivers training in a consistent and non-biased manner.
  • Exhibits patience and compassion when working with trainees as well as patients.
  • Delegates assignments appropriately and follows through to ensure optimal results.
  • Provides team members development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all OSHA regulations, RadNet practices and generally accepted safety protocols.

  • Performs technologist duties to maintain technical skills and to alleviate staffing shortages.
  • Supports the leadership team in practice initiatives.
  • Acts on behalf of the US Imaging Specialist when they are unavailable.
  • Promotes and supports the company’s Vision/Mission/Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Five years of clinical Ultrasound scanning experience.
  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound program or two-year degree.
  • ARDMS registration required, ARDMS(OB) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced level certification in the modality that specialized, if applicable.
  • Maintain license, continuing education, and experience in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies’ rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use equipment in assigned modality including RIS, imaging equipment and PACS. Specifically, this position must have a good working knowledge of US Imaging systems, GE, Siemens and Hitachi preferred.
  • Ability to utilize the principles, theories, practices, techniques and methods of the imaging procedures the team member conducts in order to produce images of high diagnostic quality.
  • Understands anatomy and pathology as needed to perform imaging procedures in assigned modalities.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding US imaging technique and protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve department and organizational objectives.
  • Ability to share information effectively and provide appropriate direction to team members.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to team members.
  • General computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge.
