Overview

The Mission Director position is a full-time exempt position. The individual will provide overall coordination and direction to the Sea Base X-Band (SBX) Radar Mission Integration Program team on board the SBX vessel. This individual is responsible for support operations and sustainment of the vessel including maintenance planning, test event coordination and crew member scheduling. The Mission Director will report to the Deputy Program Manager. This position can be either day or night shift.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain overall responsibility for conducting missions on board SBX, leading the on board team during deployment and in port periods.
  • Fulfill Operations Scheduler (OPSKED) duties as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the US Coast Guard, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, FAA, and local FACSFAC for SBX Notice to Mariners, Broadcast Warning, or NOTAMs when required and deconflict satellites and space corridors.
  • Coordinate the SBX activities with the SBX Sustainment Operations to support asset program visibility and logistics coordination.
  • Coordinate SBX radar operations, de-conflicting operations, obtaining permissions, executing checklist, coordinating safety precautions, vessel conditions, monitoring radar operations, and returning to normal vessel operations.
  • Coordinate staffing rotation aboard SBX, fueling, and OSV deliveries.
  • Execute test procedures in accordance with MDA Directives in support of the current Integrated Master Test Plan.
  • Participate in test event planning; vessel positioning, coordinate test schedules, prepare inputs for test plans and review test plans and procedures.

Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry with demonstrated technical leadership experience.
  • Experience leading and managing teams and working across multiple organizations and stakeholders.
  • Experience with missile defense programs and SBX is highly desirable.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to organize work and deliver technical products on time with minimal supervision is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must pass a Coast Guard / D.O.T pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to reside in and work in confined spaces.
  • Work in adverse or violent motion onboard a vessel.
  • Lift, push, pull and carry between 30-60 lbs up to 400 feet.
  • Must be able to climb steep or vertical ladders.
  • For Night Shift: Must be able to work 12 hour overnight shifts.

Clearance

  • Secret Clearance Required.
  • US Citizenship Required

Travel

  • Up to 75% per year to deployed locations around the world.
  • 12-hour shifts aboard (Day or Night shift available)
