We are a mental health intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization treatment center specializing in adolescents. We are currently seeking highly motivated interns to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview:
As an Intern at AWA, you will gain a wealth of experience by playing a supporting role in our treatment team, participating in supervised individual and group therapy to clients enrolled in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Day Program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and family therapy under supervision to assigned clients.
- Assist in conducting group therapy sessions and biopsychosocial assessments.
- Support the admissions process and contribute to treatment planning.
- Attend daily clinical meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment plans.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- Adhere to agency and professional standards for documentation and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
- Interest in working with adolescent populations and pursuing a career in mental health counseling.
- Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities such as DBT, CBT, and MI is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMRs) is a plus.
- Level 2 Background Check and Drug Test required.

Internship Details:
- Duration: As specified by university requirements
- Schedule: Our Adolescent program hours are Monday to Friday 12pm-8:30pm, but this can be decided on as needs basis depending on your availability and university requirements
- Location: Davie (Main Office) and/or Kendall (New Location)
