**Job Description: Fiber Optic Splicing Manager**

**Position Overview:**

The Fiber Optic Splicing Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the fiber optic splicing operations within a telecommunications or network infrastructure company. This role involves coordinating and leading a team of splicing technicians, ensuring the timely and accurate installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables. The manager will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and reliability of the network while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • **Team Leadership:**
    • Supervise, mentor, and lead a team of fiber optic splicing technicians.
    • Assign tasks, set performance goals, and provide regular feedback to team members.
    • Ensure proper training and development of the splicing team to maintain high skill levels.

  • **Project Management:**
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute fiber optic splicing projects in collaboration with other departments.
    • Develop project schedules, allocate resources, and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of manpower and equipment for optimal project outcomes.

  • **Technical Expertise:**
    • Possess a deep understanding of fiber optic splicing techniques, equipment, and tools.
    • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to resolve complex splicing issues.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and recommend improvements to existing processes.

  • **Quality Assurance:**
    • Establish and enforce quality standards and procedures for fiber optic splicing activities.
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that splicing work meets performance and reliability standards.
    • Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.

  • **Safety and Compliance:**
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and best practices during all splicing activities.
    • Maintain a safe working environment for the splicing team by promoting safety awareness and training.
    • Stay informed about industry regulations and compliance requirements related to fiber optic installations.

  • **Documentation and Reporting:**
    • Maintain accurate records of splicing projects, including diagrams, test results, and maintenance logs.
    • Generate reports detailing project progress, completion status, and any issues encountered.
    • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding project updates.

  • **Resource Management:**
    • Manage inventory of splicing equipment, tools, and materials to ensure availability for projects.
    • Coordinate with procurement to acquire necessary supplies and maintain optimal stock levels.
    • Monitor equipment maintenance schedules to ensure proper functioning and longevity.

  • **Customer Relations:**
    • Collaborate with sales and customer support teams to understand client requirements and expectations.
    • Participate in client meetings to discuss project scope, timelines, and technical aspects.
    • Address customer concerns promptly and maintain a positive client relationship.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., telecommunications, electrical engineering) or equivalent experience.

- Proven experience in fiber optic splicing, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

- Industry certifications such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent are preferred.

- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications.

- Knowledge of fiber optic testing and measurement equipment.

- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to fiber optic installations.

- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.

- Problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and optimize processes.

- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Computer literacy, including proficiency in relevant software tools.
