Staff Direct Reports: 988 and Warmline Staff (during supervising hours)

 

Job Type: Multiple part-time opportunities are available, with regularly scheduled daytime and evening weekend hours. Scheduled shifts range from 4 to 8 hours each, and are scheduled throughout the day, as this is a 24/7 service. Supervisors working between 9AM and 9PM are required to work in the Mental Health Minnesota office, while Supervisors working between 9PM and 9AM are remote positions. A pay differential of $2/hour is available for overnight staff (those working 1AM to 9AM).


Position Summary: Supervisors are responsible for providing guidance, supervision, support and oversight of Mental Health Minnesota’s 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline Center, Minnesota Warmline peer support service, and We Can RELATE (a division of the Warmline) peer support service for teens/young adults during weekend and evening hours. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline Center provides counseling, resources and support for those seeking help from the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline via text and online chat. The Minnesota Warmline provides peer support via phone, text and chat, and We Can RELATE provides peer support via online chat. Duties include direct supervision of staff, interns and volunteers responding to calls, texts and chats during assigned shifts and assistance with the provision of orientation and training for new staff, interns and volunteers as needed.


Position Details:

  • Provide direct guidance, supervision, support and oversight of staff, interns and volunteers responding to incoming calls, texts and online chats
  • Address/troubleshoot concerns and technology issues that arise during assigned shifts
  • Ensure that staff and volunteers follow established policies, procedures and protocols
  • Assist staff and volunteers in implementing warm hand-offs to county crisis, and make determinations regarding use of emergency services based on organizational policy
  • Support staff and volunteers as needed to process/discuss calls that are challenging or triggering
  • Complete data forms and report concerns or issues to program coordinators as needed
  • Participate in orientation and training of new staff and volunteers
  • Attend staff meetings, and meet as needed with 988 Lifeline Manager and Peer Support Programs Manager
  • Assist with responding to calls, texts and chats as appropriate and needed to ensure availability of services

 

Education and Experience: It is essential that candidates understand and value the goals of providing peer support and 988 Lifeline services, and work to ensure that all staff and volunteers providing peer support and 988 Lifeline response do so under the standards set by Mental Health Minnesota. The ideal candidates will have employment or volunteer experience in crisis services, suicide prevention or mental health services. Supervisory experience preferred, but this position can also be an opportunity for those seeking supervisory experience as well. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required, and experience using phone, text or online chat response is a plus. Candidates must be comfortable with the use of technology, including email, data entry, Microsoft and Excel, and cloud-based services.

 

Salary and Benefits: The starting wage for these positions is $23.63/hour. Successful candidates will also receive a $250 new hire bonus (payable if training is completed within 15 days of start date). A $250 retention bonus is also available for employees who work at least 240 hours in the first 90 days (including training hours).
