Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the EVS Aide III performs a variety of housekeeping duties. Uses a variety of cleaning devices and solutions in performance of job responsibilities. Distributes and picks-up biohazard containers. Ensures that customer quality expectations are met.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have previous hospital or hotel experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
The employee must maintain a valid CA driver's license and current DMV report, the results of which are acceptable standards, as per SVMC policy as a condition of employment. The employee will also be required as a condition of employment to enroll in the DMV Pull Notice program to allow the Hospital to receive notice of any changes in their driving record. The Employee must maintain at least state required limits of liability insurance/evidence of financial responsibility on my vehicles (such limits may not be adequate and I should consider higher limits for my own protection).
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 * Maintains carpet, provides daily attention to floor care in high visibility areas, performs floor maintenance and assigned project cleaning on a routine basis throughout Hospital and Medical Office Buildings. Follows appropriate procedures and overall facility plan.
2 Removes, properly stores, and replaces biohazard containers from designated areas throughout Hospital and Medical Office Buildings.
3 * Uses appropriate precautions for body substance isolation and safety techniques at all times, maintaining department standards.
4 May act as Lead person, when Supervisor is not present, as assigned.
5 * Must be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
