Cabot Citrus Farms

Cabot’s first U.S. destination, Cabot Citrus Farms, is on 1,200 acres of rolling land and will include Cabot’s signature combination of world-class golf, luxury accommodations, and real estate opportunities. Opening in 2023, Cabot Citrus Farms will feature two revitalized 18-hole courses, a par-3 course, a new clubhouse, and extensive practice facilities. The property is a 50-minute drive from Tampa and an 80-minute drive from Orlando. While close to urban amenities, the property sits in the central-west region of Florida aptly known as the Nature Coast. Visitors will delight in one-of-a-kind experiences including exceptional hiking, biking, and nature trails at neighboring Withlacoochee State Forest, spring-fed rivers and bountiful lakes at Crystal River, and world-class fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Position Overview

A vital role to Cabot’s world-class success, you add value by overseeing all components of the irrigation system for the landscaped areas and administering the project work required to maintain plants and landscaping in pristine condition. The Profile

The Irrigation Technician is a professional who can work independently and think critically. Analysis skills are important as well as a willingness to continue learning and growing in the position. The ability to effectively communicate issues, complications, work performed, and repairs needed is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and inspect the entire system weekly and note failures, repairs, and improvements
  • Monitor daily water requirements, maintaining the irrigation central control system, and pump station
  • Oversee programming of irrigation clock and maintain programs for optimum efficiency and plant health
  • Create and maintain an inventory of usable heads, nozzles, valves, etc.
  • Oversee the proper servicing, pressuring, and winterization (if needed) of the irrigation system
  • Diagnose, repair, test, and properly install irrigation heads, quick couplers, valves, & decoders
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment at all times
  • Maintain all as-builts accurately for troubleshooting, identification, and locating system components
  • Maintain a monthly inventory of all irrigation parts and specialty tools
  • Oversee proper repair of the irrigation system with the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
  • Display responsible environmental protection practices

Qualifications

  • A diploma, certification, or degree in Irrigation Management or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Residential, Commercial, or Golf Course Irrigation environment
  • Knowledge of the principles to safely operate and work with an irrigation system and its components

Physical Requirements

  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
  • Operate vehicles and equipment for several hours at a time in various weather conditions
  • Communicate verbally with staff members and customers with/without the use of two-way radios
  • Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, shoveling, and/or raking
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects regularly
  • Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work with/around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls
