General Position Summary: In support of our mission to provide a Christ-centered early childhood education, the Preschool teacher will provide quality instruction and care in a loving environment. The goal is to collaborate with families, striving to help each child grow mentally, socially and spiritually.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • All actions, words and convictions should exhibit a Christ-centered identity that adheres to Christian moral and ethical principles; respects all policies, laws and regulations
  • Understands the importance of respecting the Magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church as demonstrated by Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church; seeks to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ; leads by Christian example respecting the dignity of the human person with charity and humility.
  • Creates and updates effective work processes, implements new tools and techniques, willing to continually improve knowledge base and skills.
  • Under the direction of the St. Vincent's Academy Director, provide age-appropriate instructional program including:
    1. Lesson Plans
    2. Classroom preparation
    3. Student Assessment
    4. Extended and enrichment opportunities
    5. Student Supervision
  • Participates with Academy Staff in morning prayer, faculty meetings, school events, in-services
  • Attends all school functions, enrichment opportunities and activities
  • Creates a motivational environment that fosters a dynamic love for learning
    1. in the classroom and through all activities, sparks enthusiasm
  • Follows Teacher Expectations Checklist distributed at the beginning of each school year
  • Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in a classroom environment, subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding needs of the children.
  • Ability to lift 35lbs
  • Ability to stand or sit for lengthy periods of time.

Travel Requirements:

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Practicing Catholic, faithful to the Magisterium and in good standing with the Catholic Church, preferred
  • High School Diploma required, BA preferred; CDA or Early Childhood Education (ECE) a plus
  • Minimum two years teaching or teacher's assistant classroom experience, required
  • Successful completion of the Diocesan Safe Environment process
  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Certification a plus

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Basic understanding of Early Childhood Development and Education
  • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Ability to calmly handle conflict and emotionally charged situations in the classroom and with parents.
  • Must be first aid and CPR for infants and children certified (may complete after you are hired)
