Position: Chaplain

We are seeking a compassionate and Christ-centered Chaplain with musical capabilities to join our dedicated team at DaySpring Assisted Living. The Chaplain will play a vital role in nurturing the spiritual well-being of our residents by organizing, coordinating, and delivering spiritual care and enrichment activities. This includes leading group church services, facilitating small group prayers, providing one-on-one spiritual guidance, and offering support to residents at the end of their lives. Additionally, the Chaplain will lead worship through singing hymns and playing instruments, enriching our spiritual programs with their musical skills. The Chaplain will collaborate closely with the Life Enrichment Coordinator to ensure that the spiritual dimension of wellness is fostered and maintained effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct group church services, small group prayers, and one-on-one spiritual guidance sessions.
• Lead worship by singing hymns and playing musical instruments, creating a spiritually enriching environment.
• Provide end-of-life spiritual care and support to residents, ensuring they find peace and comfort.
• Complete activity logs to track spiritual engagement and ensure that all residents are reached.
• Use the resident Activity Plan provided by the Life Enrichment Coordinator to tailor spiritual activities to individual needs.
• Motivate and encourage residents to participate in scheduled spiritual growth programming.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Coordinator, Director of Operations, President, or other leadership staff.

Qualifications:

• Educational background or training in Theology preferred.
• Experience in ministry, including leading prayers, Bible studies, devotions, and spiritual activities.
• Proven musical capabilities with skills in singing and playing instruments, and experience leading worship.
• Prior experience or a strong desire to work with senior populations preferred.
• Good physical health and ability to be active.
• Passionate about impacting the lives of older adults with God's love through meaningful spiritual enrichment.
• Demonstrated sensitivity, empathy, and a caring attitude towards the elderly.
• Reliability, flexibility, patience, and a good sense of humor.
• Ability to cope with the emotional and mental stresses related to working with dementia, memory impairments, and end-of-life concerns.

Personal Characteristics:

• Genuine interest in interacting with older adults, many of whom may have dementia or memory impairments.
• Ability to engage residents in spiritual growth activities and experiences.
• Effective communication skills with staff, residents, families, and the public.
• Willingness to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Positive attitude, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm at all times.
• Respectful and dignified treatment of all residents.
• Creative and self-motivated to ensure engagement in spiritual activities.
• Problem-solving skills to encourage participation from reluctant residents.
