JOB TITLE: Deburr Technician

DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop

REPORTING TO: Team Lead

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:

The Deburr Technician will be responsible for cleaning, deburring, polishing and grinding

surfaces of precision of machined metal products; following the directions from templates,

layout, or blueprint, to meet customer specifications.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

As Deburr Technician you will review blueprint and/or layouts on work pieces, and selecting the

files and method according to material, size and shape of work, and amount of stock to be

removed, and applying knowledge of filing procedures. Using the appropriate tools to remove

burrs and to polish parts. Scraping or rubbing parts with file, wire brush, buffing cloth, or

deburring knife. Selecting to use foot pedal or through manual process when using spinning

wheel to deburr or polish parts. Mounting parts on revolving spindle or chuck and holds or move

tools such as file, abrasive stone, or cloth against work piece to file, grind, polish, or buff

surface. Smoothing and polishing work pieces with emery cloth or power buffer, and feeling

surface with fingers for smoothness. Cleaning interior surfaces of holes. Changing tools on

powered equipment. Cleaning and returning deburring tools and equipment to proper storage

space. Applying abrasive compound, wax, or other dressing to facilitate cleaning or polishing

operation. Operating tumblers and media blasters. Visual inspection for good workmanship.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or GED

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

At least 1 year of experience deburring, finishing, and/or detailing experience.

Requirements:
