Aerospace Quality Inspector

Day shift 7am-4pm, 8am-5pm or 9am-5pm Mon-Fri

Pay $21--$23 per hour


  • Inspect Aircraft Parts and Assemblies: Examine aerospace components, assemblies, and systems to ensure they meet engineering specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform Dimensional Inspections: Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Conduct Visual Inspections: Identify surface defects, imperfections, or irregularities in parts, coatings, and finishes through detailed visual inspections.
  • Review and Interpret Blueprints: Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to determine inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Record inspection results, complete quality assurance documentation, and generate detailed inspection reports for compliance and traceability.
  • Monitor Production Processes: Ensure that manufacturing and assembly processes adhere to quality control standards, reporting any deviations or non-conformities.
  • Coordinate with Teams: Work closely with production teams, engineers, and supervisors to address quality issues, provide feedback, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all inspected parts comply with aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, FAA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Identify and report non-conforming materials or parts, initiating corrective actions, and following up on resolution.
  • Calibration of Equipment: Ensure that all inspection tools and equipment are calibrated and functioning correctly to maintain accuracy and reliability in measurements.
  • Maintain Records: Keep detailed logs of inspections, audits, and quality control processes for regulatory audits and internal reviews.
  • This position requires a strong attention to detail, thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and standards, and proficiency in inspection techniques and tools.

* Inspect aircraft, maintenance procedures, air navigational aids, air traffic controls, and communications equipment to ensure conformance with Federal safety regulations.
* Inspect work of aircraft mechanics performing maintenance, modification, or repair and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft mechanical systems to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.
* Examine maintenance records and flight logs to determine if service and maintenance checks and overhauls were performed at prescribed intervals.
* Inspect new, repaired, or modified aircraft to identify damage or defects and to assess airworthiness and conformance to standards, using checklists, hand tools, and test instruments.
* Approve or deny issuance of certificates of airworthiness.
* Prepare and maintain detailed repair, inspection, investigation, and certification records and reports.
* Examine landing gear, tires, and exteriors of fuselage, wings, and engines for evidence of damage or corrosion and the need for repairs.
* Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment.
* Start aircraft and observe gauges, meters, and other instruments to detect evidence of malfunctions.
* Examine aircraft access plates and doors for security.
* Recommend changes in rules, policies, standards, and regulations, based on knowledge of operating conditions, aircraft improvements, and other factors.
* Investigate air accidents and complaints to determine causes.
* Schedule and coordinate in-flight testing programs with ground crews and air traffic control to ensure availability of ground tracking, equipment monitoring, and related services.
* Analyze training programs and conduct oral and written examinations to ensure the competency of persons operating, installing, and repairing aircraft equipment.
* Conduct flight test programs to test equipment, instruments, and systems under a variety of conditions, using both manual and automatic controls.
* Observe flight activities of pilots to assess flying skills and to ensure conformance to flight and safety regulations.
