Buyer I or II

Restek is seeking a Buyer to join the Purchasing department. This position will be filled as either a Buyer I or II pending the successful candidate’s commensurate education and experience. As a Buyer I you are responsible for coordinating the internal requisition process and executing replenishment duties for assigned categories. As a Buyer II the primary responsibility is to manage suppliers to ensure timely delivery at competitive prices, optimizing inventory levels to prevent shortages, and maximizing inventory turns.
Job Duties:
- Issue purchase orders based on ERP system demands or approved requisitions.
- Assist internal customers with their requests and purchase orders. Resolve problems and issues related to purchasing requirements promptly.
- Obtain supplier product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedules in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist in resolving and documenting supplier discrepancies related to quantity or quality.
- Manage office supply inventory through regular inventories, purchase orders, and restocking activities.
- Assist in database updates in ERP and other systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility of information.
- Additional duties assigned to a Buyer II
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED required plus at least one year of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required to be considered for a Buyer I. Additional education and/or experience may be required to be considered for a Buyer II.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
