SUMMARY

A Junior Estimator is a professional who assists an Estimator in determining the cost of fabrication projects for a "build to print" job shop. They will work closely with an Estimator, engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing team members to evaluate costs, labor hours, materials, and processing relative to the customer drawings and specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complete estimates of labor and material costs to support a request for quote.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain bids for material and outside processes.
  • Gain an understanding of the part, project or program and its requirements.
  • Gather first-hand information from history, the shop floor, purchasing and engineering.
  • Evaluate and investigate re-run jobs for time, material and processing anomalies.
  • Compile the data into an estimating worksheet and by using comparative analysis determine the sell price for the component or assembly.
  • Complete the quote sheet and forward the data to sales or management for review.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer literate with emphasis on spreadsheets.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Time Management skills to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Thoroughness and reliability.
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to problem solve and identify potential issues and develop solutions.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • A successful Junior Estimator will be proficient in mathematics, and data analysis. They will have the ability to weigh multiple perspectives on projects. They will be able negotiators who can balance project needs with company priorities.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, finance, or related field is preferred, but not required. High School Diploma and some College Credits that include basic mathematics and some science background will be accepted. This shows an ability to learn and use cognitive skills for making decisions while analyzing data.
  • Computer literacy is imperative and should include word processing and database experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write and speak English is required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills required. Face to face, phone and digital (e-mail/text) interactions must be clear and concise.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

A successful Junior Estimator will be proficient in mathematics and data analysis. They will have the ability to weigh multiple perspectives on projects.


WORK SCHEDULE IS 4/10's: Monday to Thursday 6am to 4:30pm, CLOSED Fridays.
