Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team and support students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide personalized support to enhance students' academic, social, and behavioral development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support for Individualized Education:

    • Assist in the implementation of IEPs, providing support tailored to each student's unique needs.
    • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce instructional content and facilitate learning.
  • Classroom Assistance:

    • Help the special education teacher with classroom management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
    • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
  • Student Development:

    • Monitor and support students’ academic progress, behavior, and social interactions, providing feedback and reporting observations to the teacher.
    • Implement strategies and interventions for behavior management and emotional support.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support the educational and behavioral goals of students.
    • Attend IEP meetings and contribute to discussions about student progress and strategies for improvement.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining student records, preparing materials for lessons, and tracking student progress.
    • Support the teacher in organizing and managing classroom resources and materials.
  • Health and Safety:

    • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for students, including providing assistance with physical activities and personal care as needed.
    • Follow health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures and first aid as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field preferred.
    • Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in a special education setting is advantageous.
    • Familiarity with special education practices, behavioral interventions, and assistive technology is beneficial.
  • Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
    • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
    • Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
