The Village of Palatine Department of Public Works is seeking a Summer Laborer

Job Description/Description: Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

• Operates a variety of light trucks and equipment in the repair, maintenance and construction of public works water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems, streets, and urban forest.
• Inspects and maintains vehicles and equipment; reports malfunctions to supervisor.
• Assists with the preparations and tear down/cleanup for events, festivals and special functions.
• Ability to tolerate both inside and outside environmental conditions. Position is performed under fluctuating and extreme temperatures, with some exposure to noise.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 or older and enrolled as a full-time student in college for fall 2024.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must be eligible for employment in the U.S. and pass a pre-employment background check and medical and drug screening (including cannabis).

Salary: $16.00 per hour.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (40 hours per week).

Employment Duration: 3 months (summer).
