Agency Overview: The Safe Center LI, Inc. (TSCLI) is the leading provider of services to victims of interpersonal violence in Nassau County. The agency provides comprehensive services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, and elder abuse. The Safe Center is a thought leader that seeks to develop and implement innovative interventions to meet the multifaceted needs of victims and survivors.
SUMMARY: The bookkeeper is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of the Agency. The bookkeeper will document and monitor all financial transactions of the Agency.
This position reports to the Comptroller.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process daily aspects of accounts payable and cash receipts
- Document and monitor all financial transactions necessary to maintain the general ledger
- Identify and fact check discrepancies in accounting data
- Execute interfund bank transfers and monitor cash flow
- Process monthly on-line payments
- Process credit cards, allocate charges and reconcile to monthly statements and general ledger
- Distribute, maintain and replenish petty cash when necessary
- Verify bi-weekly payroll for accuracy
- Assist with annual financial audit preparation
- Maintain and organize both paper and electronic financial files
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years experience with bookkeeping or an accounting degree
- Proficient with QuickBooks Pro and Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to multi-task under time sensitive deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills
HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Full-Time, 35 hours per week 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Salary: $45,000
