Key Responsibilities:

  • Transportation Duties:
  • Safely transport students to and from athletic events, field trips, and other school-related activities.
  • Drive students on regular school bus routes as a substitute driver when required.
  • Ensure punctual arrival and departure for all assigned trips and routes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bus environment.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good operating condition.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and school transportation policies.
  • Implement and follow safety protocols, including student behavior management on the bus.
  • Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the maintenance team.
  • Customer Service:
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students.
  • Provide a welcoming and friendly environment for all passengers.
  • Address any passenger concerns or issues in a professional manner.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage and time logs.
  • Complete any required documentation related to transportation activities.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements.
  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
  • Prior experience as a school bus driver or similar role preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations related to school bus transportation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and assist students as needed.
  • Dexterity to operate bus controls and perform vehicle inspections.
