Wedding Banquet Captain

Luxury NJ wedding venue, Bear Brook Valley, in search of a Banquet Captain to join our growing team. Banquet Captain ensures that guests have a pleasant and memorable wedding experience. This individual must supervise and train the waitstaff to Bear Brook Valley’s standards of excellence by enforcing rules and policies. They will report directly to the Event Coordinator of the evening. This high-paced environment includes day of responsibilities such as, but not be limited to:
- Maintaining communication with and assisting the event coordinator on the floor.
- Inspecting the ballroom, table settings, chairs, and floors prior to guests entering the space.
- Receive and greet members and guests; assist with seating.
- Waiting on the tables of honor: typically, parents of the bride/groom.
- Checking tables throughout service times for guest satisfaction, resolve guest complaints.
- Create weekly schedules and assignments for the waitstaff team.
- Enforce rules, regulations and policies to the internal waitstaff team.
- Supervise the dining room staff and maintain uniform service standards.
- Ensure side work is completed every day and dining room supplies are stocked. Reports any supply shortages to the Wedding Manager for timely ordering.
- Train new-hires in service standards and menu items.
- Act as initial contact for disciplinary actions. Assure that actions are consistent and accurate. Provides timely detailed account of any disciplinary issues to the Event Coordinator or Wedding Manager.
- Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
- Direct and assist in ballroom set up and break down.
A collaborative personality and can-do attitude are both pivotal for your success in this position. Having a background in customer service and leadership is preferred, but not necessary. If you feel you have the personality, drive and creativity to flourish in this kind of role, the team is willing to train applicants for success.
Full-Time & Part-Time hours available. We would prefer to fill this position with a full-time candidate. However, for the right candidate we can be flexible. Shifts are primarily in the evening. Health & dental benefits available for full-time candidates.
Hourly Pay: ranging $17.50 to $20.00 per hour starting (+ optional gratuity)
