The Senior Process Engineer is dedicated to enhancing plant processes by monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing improvements. The role involves boosting equipment reliability, productivity, product quality, and process safety, while minimizing downtime, costs, and utility usage. The engineer will use data collection, engineering techniques, statistical analysis, and collaboration with various teams to optimize plant performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

    • Oversee operating conditions, production rates, quality, and yield to meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
    • Collect data and use engineering techniques, statistical analysis, and technical knowledge for process optimization.
    • Maintain constant communication with the Production Team for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Propose and implement modifications to improve plant performance and reduce costs.
    • Ensure correct design and installation of new equipment.
    • Conduct special process studies, projects, and updates related to process safety.
  • Project Evaluation and Execution:

    • Evaluate projects for their impact on safety, environmental compliance, product quality, and production rates.
    • Prioritize and drive projects forward.
    • Interface with production supervision, technical personnel, maintenance, and operators to leverage operational and process knowledge.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Lead problem-solving exercises using root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
    • Participate in safety compliance actions such as Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) revalidations, and safety audits.
    • Prepare environmental reports and maintain a safe work environment through active participation in safety programs and committees.
  • Mentorship and Leadership:

    • Mentor less-experienced engineers.
    • Lead cross-functional and site teams as assigned.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitor process conditions to enhance safety, productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of plant processes through training materials and SOPs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute plant trials.
  • Update process safety information (PSI) records.
  • Lead and participate in What-if, PSSR, HAZOP teams, and PHA revalidation exercises.
  • Design new equipment and evaluate existing installations.
  • Request quotes for new or replacement equipment.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineering on new capital projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in a production or engineering role within a chemical processing facility.
  • Skills:
    • Proven experience in process engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
    • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical analysis.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience with root cause analysis tools.
    • Effective communication skills for collaboration with various teams and stakeholders.
    • Commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
    • Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
