Miba powder metal parts, bearings, friction materials, power electronics components, coatings and components for e-mobility are used around the world in applications like vehicles, ships, aircraft, agricultural and construction machinery, wind power turbines or power grids.

We are seeking a Machinist to join our team
As a Machinist you will set up, and operate manual lathe machinery.  These include but are not limited to manual lathes, drills, and other machinery as required.

Key Experience Needed:
  • High School diploma with technical school education or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous work experience on manual lathe equipment doing comparable work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process prints, and machine drawings, including visualizing rotation of round parts from 2D drawings.
  • Proficiency in making average to complicated mathematical calculations and resolving elementary technical problems, including basic geometric and trigonometry calculations.
  • Skilled in using high tolerance measuring gauges such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Mechanical aptitude, detail-oriented, and focused on quality and safety.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Set up, adjust, and operate manual machines for tight tolerance operations, selecting appropriate tooling and speeds, and determining clamping methods with minimal fixture use.
  • Perform complex machining operations with critical dimensions, maintaining tolerances up to .0005". Apply technical knowledge in tooling, blueprint reading (including GDT), and material processes, including machining complex geometries and threading. May grind own tools for special requirements.
  • Familiarity with independent four-jaw chucks; use 3 and 6 jaw scroll style chucks for specific operations.
  • Experience with split parts is advantageous; maintain correct chuck pressures to ensure roundness of split parts.
  • Follow written and verbal procedures for machining and related tasks.
  • Interpret instructions from blueprints, work orders, sketches, and verbal directions.
  • Recognize and modify machine functions per supervisor’s instructions.
  • Utilize knowledge of working properties of materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, brass, copper, and some thermoplastics.
  • Employ working knowledge of tooling selection responsibilities.
  • Inspect work using micrometers, bore gauges, vernier calipers, or other measuring instruments to ensure conformance within .0005" tolerance.
  • Adhere to company safety policies, reporting unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Accurately document labor and time entries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of machines and work areas and Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment.
