Job DescriptionJob Description

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Screening and Intake Coordinator's responsibilities include vetting referral information; completing intake paperwork; participating in the development of quarterly reports, and engaging in billing and authorization procedures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Qualified Mental Health Associate, Qualified Mental Health Professional preferred.
  • Experience: Experience reviewing referral packets, participating in utilization reviews and contract compliance.
  • Availability: Monday-Friday, 8 AM 5 PM; Participation in an on-call rotation
  • Certifications: QMHA, QMHP preferred
  • Ability to:
    • Work effectively as a member of an integrated team
    • Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
    • Sustain effective working relationships with diverse staff and business contacts.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Manage multiple priorities, working under pressure to meet deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works as primary and initial contact for referrals and intake
  2. Review and monitor each step of the referral and admission process to proactively identify potential barriers to effective treatment.
  3. Contact payer source representatives on an on-going basis to secure contracts, clarify expectations, develop collaborative relationships, and support the billing process including sending initial and ongoing preauthorization requests.
  4. Enters administrative information into computerized database; runs reports and initiates corrective action as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  5. Coordinates services with various referral sources obtaining background information on clients through verbal or written communication.
  6. Maintains wait list of clients awaiting service.
  7. Refers clients (when appropriate) to services in the community when program is at full capacity.
  8. Works closely with therapists and caseworkers to ensure seamless intake and discharge planning.
  9. Participates in an on-call supervisor rotation, which includes an additional stipend.
  10. Provides payer information to appropriate designee for processing.
  11. Completes other duties as assigned, including administrative tasks and supporting the floor staff and clinical teams.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to evade combative, at-risk youth clients, and participate in lifting and/or moving a youth client, when there is an active threat to client's safety. Youth clients' age range from 12-18. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-15 lbs.
