About the Intellectual Property – Patent Prosecution Section

In coordination with Mintz, King Global Enterprise Solutions is dedicated to protecting our client’s most valuable innovations by efficiently crafting patents in key jurisdictions. Our team, comprising associates, patent agents, and technical advisors, excels at drafting applications, responding to office actions, conducting examiner interviews, and performing freedom to operate studies. We help clients identify innovations, develop prosecution strategies, and ensure quality control, providing essential guidance to drive client success.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a patent agent with a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field to join our IP Prosecution team. Patent agents collaborate with team members and clients to understand their technology and develop strategies to protect it. They draft and prosecute patent applications, conduct freedom to operate studies, and analyze patents to clear products for the market. Preferred office locations are Boston and DC.

Assess scientific literature, patents, and patent application documents in various fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science.

Critique and provide insightful opinions on scientific data related to inventions.

Conduct comprehensive searches for relevant scientific articles, patents, and patent application documents.

Perform in-depth analyses comparing inventions with existing discoveries.

Identify essential elements, features, or components of an invention.

Compose patent applications with a comprehensive background, detailed descriptions, and clear claims defining the invention.

Draft responses to patent application rejections, providing detailed analyses and presenting convincing arguments.

Conduct clearance studies to clear clients’ products with respect to competitor patents.

Present ideas, reasoning, and conclusions concisely to colleagues and provide feedback on their ideas.

Work with clients on innovative technologies to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios.

Collaboration with team members is vital at Mintz. Therefore, the firm encourages working from the office approximately 60% of the time, following the firm’s guidelines.

Qualifications

Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Ability to present scientific concepts, analysis, reasoning, and conclusions to both scientists and non-scientists.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and collaborate effectively in team settings.
