Job Summary:

As a Candle-Making Host at Hummingbird Candle Co., you'll be responsible for leading our guests through a high-energy and fun candle-making experience. From guiding them through personalized fragrance exploration, to sharing your expertise in candle making and fragrance. You'll play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for our guests.

A friendly demeanor, excellent communication skills, quick transitions, and ability to thrive in a dynamic retail environment will contribute to the overall success for you, the team and the store.

Monday - Wednesday: Closed

Thursday: 12-5

Friday: 12-8

Saturday:12-8

Sunday:12-5


Job Responsibilities::

  • Greet and Welcome guests while infusing the space with energy, excitement, and positive vibes during the candle-making experience
  • Orchestrate, set the tone, and lead groups of various ages and backgrounds through a high-energy and engaging candle-making workshop
  • Conduct personalized fragrance exploration sessions at our Hummingbird Candle Library
  • Share expertise in candle making and fragrance with visitors
  • Assist in setting up and organizing materials
  • Assist in clean up after each experience with a positive attitude and dash of efficiency
  • Guide clients to the perfect curated purchase on our Retail floor
  • Process customer transactions and contribute to overall sales goals
  • Maintain Hummingbird merchandising, cleanliness, and operational standards
  • Act as a Hummingbird ambassador both in and outside of the store

Desired Skills:

  • High attention to detail or ability to "read the room"
  • Ability to work in an organized manner, managing multiple tasks with accuracy
  • Strong, open communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. routinely and safely
  • Positive energy and passion for making every moment memorable
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adaptable to the changing needs of a small business
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the service industry or theater background is ideal

Requirements:

  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Capacity to lift at least 50 lbs. and stand for 6 to 9-hour shifts
  • Open availability and flexibility for part-time work (20-30 hours per week)
  • Loud, clear, and precise communication during experiences
  • Ability to get the crowd to engage 
  • Great at sales and meeting goals
  • Adequate transportation

      NOT A HUMMINGBIRD:

  • Someone looking for full-time work. Hummingbird is only open 4 days a week. All positions are part-time. On average our Chandlers (fancy word for “candle-maker”) work 10-20 hrs per week. 
  • Someone who can't work weekends or through the holidays. Hummingbird is an experience-based retail business and weekends and holidays are the name of the game.
  • Someone who gets easily overwhelmed with multi-tasking, large crowds, or loud environments. We like our music how we like our people Turnt All the Way Up.
  • Someone who can't "turn it on" when you don't feel like it. Being a Hummingbird Chandler and leading our candle-making experiences is like being a Disney Character. When you visit Disney you'll never know if Belle or Gaston is having a bad day. Our guests come for a good time and we give it to them
